Parenting for the Great Turning – Athens, OH

an in-person Work That Reconnects Workshop for Parents

Striving to raise healthy, grounded children within a world so marked by environmental devastation, economic crises, political chaos, and unfettered technology can leave us feeling exhausted, defeated, and alone, which drains us of our ability to care for our kids in lifegiving ways.

So let’s not be alone.

Join us for a facilitated half-day workshop, a space for parents to come together in community to acknowledge the challenges and joys of raising children in these precious and precarious times.

Parenting for the Great Turning

Work That Reconnects for Parents with Jo delAmor and Miki Johnson

Saturday, September 27, 2025

10am-2pm

Unitarian Universalist Fellowship

184 Longview Heights Rd, Athens, Ohio

What we’ll get to do together…

Our time together will include personal reflection, deep sharing, and interactive group work designed to strengthen our relationships to ourselves, our children, and the world around us. (plus a lunch break!)

Moving through the Work That Reconnects spiral — grounding in gratitude, honoring the pain for the world, seeing with new/ancient eyes, going forth — will help us metabolize our challenging feelings and galvanize our commitment to right action.

Our intention is for parents to leave the workshop with more resilience, resolve, and clarity about how to parent and live in alignment with their values. We also hold the possibility of seeding an ongoing group for parents who are interested so we can continue to support each other beyond this experience.

Cost and Contribution

This workshop is being offered on a sliding scale of $50-$100

The sliding scale is meant to allow for maximum accessibility while covering costs and compensating the facilitator. Please contribute generously within your means.

Registration and payment is required in advance to hold your spot.

If you’re not able to make a contribution within the sliding scale range, please reach out to me by email at jodelamor@gmail.com to let me know what you can contribute so we can make arrangements for you to participate.

About the Facilitators

Jo delAmor is a mom and a step-mom to two young adults. Over the last 25+ years, she has also cared for and worked with hundreds of other people’s children of all ages in a wide variety of situations from long term co-parenting community to public schools, from wilderness camps and preschools to in-home nannying.

Jo has been facilitating the Work That Reconnects since 2013 with a focus on dismantling oppression, transforming our cultural paradigm and supporting parents through these unprecedented and challenging times.

In her dedication to personal and cultural transformation as a catalyst for planetary healing, she has paid close attention to what this new generation needs at this pivotal time on planet Earth; charting what works, what doesn’t and what is being called forth from us as parents. She has woven the insights and practical tools she’s gathered through all of this experience into her practice of New Paradigm Parenting and her book, Raising Children in the Midst of Global Crisis: A Compassionate Guidebook for New Paradigm Parenting

Miki Johnson is an experienced facilitator, leadership coach, somatic energy guide, and 4x business founder, most recently of Leading By Example Coaching & Guidance. She grew up in Athens, then returned in 2020 with her husband and two young boys. In between, she studied journalism at Northwestern University, was an editor at American Photo Magazine in New York City, and during 15 years in San Francisco, consulted in marketing, then built a successful employer branding agency. She enjoys being a bridge between the business and spiritual realms, via her 20-year relationship with ceremony and personal growth work, especially 7Directions Dance Ceremony, which she facilitates in Athens and beyond.
