Wow!
This book truly belongs in & to the world, and it has come forward at the perfect time.
We face an uncertain future, and that’s scary, for us and for our kids. This book acknowledges that reality fully, AND peeks around the corner, asking who we need to (and get to!) become as we face the future.
The author weaves together big ideas with practical tips and fun, transformational activities to support the whole family in creating wonderful ways of living with each other on this one precious Earth. Our family has already implemented several of the recommendations with sweet and powerful results.
I can’t wait to witness the ripple effect as these powerful and practical ideas inspire and encourage parents around the world to raise a resilient and creative generation, grounded in deep compassion, natural curiosity, and heart-centred courage.
Highly recommend for anyone with children in their lives – not just parents!

Yep, the world needs this book. The polycrisis we are facing means that nothing will be the same, and kids need parents who are willing to be present, compassionate, and supportive, despite systems collapse. Bypassing accountability and normalizing the ways of being we’ve been conditioned into is easy, but it won’t be a way out forever.
No one is saying you’re at fault for not knowing better. We are all complicit in harm, but that means we are all capable of (and responsible for) doing things differently. I hope more people can find the strength to do the work it takes to begin to unlearn the violent and extractive behaviors we’ve been conditioned into repeating. Human nature is not inherently destructive, that’s just a story we’ve been told over generations.
Whether or not we can “save” anything or anyone is irrelevant, but how do we want to spend the rest of our time on this planet? And how do we want to show up for our kids?
This book has a very gentle and compassionate delivery of the main messages, but it does contain difficult truths and may take some time to get through. Recommended reading after this one could be Hospicing Modernity if you haven’t read that yet. 🙂

The most important book for parents today.
Truly and honestly this is what I think to be the most important book for parents to be reading today.
Jo weaves together wisdom from her work with The Work That Reconnects together with a practical toolkit to help parents connect with their children and raise children into a future that we dream for while turning consciously towards our grief for the world as it is.
It is a paradigm shifting book for paradigm shifters.
Do yourself a favour and read this book. Read it with people. Use its tools in your family. Let this book be the starting place for greater connection on your parenting journey.

Phenomenal – must read for parents
This is really a must-read for aware parents/guardians/etc who want to really shift the direction of humanity away from business as usual towards the more beautiful world we long for. It begins at home, in our most essential relationships. This book offers tangible, time-tested tools to guide parents in really becoming the parents their kids need them to be – that humanity needs them to be.
